Problems/Bugs with Site Inaccurately Recording Times, Results, Shenanigans, etc.

Dear Lichess Powers, Friends, Staff, Community, etc.

There are problems/bugs with the site that result in ruining games and results, ratings, etc.

It is an epidemic that happens many times and not just a few isolated instances. To save you from wasting time on a wrong solution, before we begin, it is not one of those issues that can just be pushed under the rug with incorrect approach like, "Over time it will correct itself due to Glicko RD, just get over it, etc."

It is not just one of those kinds of issues although those still happen too and also incorrect lag, etc. but that's not what I'm talking about.

For example, I have white pieces and move 1.e4 then premove 2. Nc3.

My opponent does not move on the board.

But it shows on notation that he moved 1..d5

However, it does not move on the screen and the pieces on the board do not move.

The 2nd move of white is already premoved so it is impossible to subtract any time from white legally unless something cheats to do so which would be inaccurate, unjust, not valid, not true, etc.

In spite of all these facts we know to be true, the system begins to subtract time from white's clock even though white already moved, premoved and the game is stalled waiting on black to move who should have black's timer ticking until black moves.

It is a bug that is making it impossible for the game to proceed.

The last time it happened I asked my opponent if he would accept a draw due to the bug/glitch/inaccurate bs and luckily he agreed.

There is no guarantee your opponent will agree next time though and it's not fair for players to get losses on games that they have an equal chance to win.

Here is a screenshot graphic so I can show what is happening and so that people cannot shift blame, deny it happens or otherwise do gross negligence of restoring game to rightful state.

Thank you in advance for helpful solutions that do not involve ignoring, doing nothing or anything other than Lichess working to fix it.

In my opinion here are a few possibilities:

1. It is a bug and must be fixed
2. It is a connection issue (what was your PING: en.lichess.org/lag )
3. There was a quick glitch

Solutions:
1. Wait for lichess to fix it
2. Wait for your connection to get better b4 playing more
3. Try refreshing the page.

Hope this might help @TacticsFlow
BTW what you're talking about happens to me fairly often, especially when my PING is high, like > 1000ms.
And not that I doubt you but the screen shot doesn't show anything odd...
1. Please understand it is exceptionally odd for the move 1..d5 to be recorded in notation but not on the board.
2. Also, There should still be 5:00 or 4:59 on white's timer and not two whole minutes subtracted instead of a fraction of one second.

That is incredibly odd.

Thank you for looking into it.

Yes, I made sure my network connection, ping speed and connection speed are excellent so those are not concerns.

Thank you in advance for working to correct this bug.

I am glad I saved the screenshot because after I created the topic to alert about this, someone has made the pawn appear when it did *not* appear during the game or shortly thereafter as evidenced by the screenshot taken *after* the game ended in a draw. :)

That way no one can say it is a client connection or network issue because the game had already ended and showed the move had been made in notation but not on screen and the time had been subtracted from the first person who already premoved.

I think of the two possibilities you expressed as your opinion, it can be either 1 or 3 (bug or quick glitch).

My connection speed to France is excellent.

The problem is server side on Lichess server or application but not on the user side.

Thank you in advance for solving these issues instead of blaming the victim.

I also noticed the new lag page which attempts to blame it on user lag is inconsistent with actual hop times because when I had super fast ping and connection, the server still cost me many games through no fault of my own.

***** Something that would be useful would be if the move times can be shown for this game in analysis but for some odd reason the feature did not become available for this game. A little too convenient, don't you think? It always shows times per move on all other games. It is disappointing it wouldn't show for this one because I can prove I did not take more than a fraction of a second for my move but was charged two minutes without the opportunity to move since my opponent's move was not shown and my premove did not play either. In other words, I did everything right to make sure there was no possible time to be taken from anyone but my opponent unless something invalid happened by the software or server and it did. Please admit this. Thank you, it will be the first step in solving the problem.
Actually, from the screenshot you provided I can see that you are viewing the previous move (1. e4). You most likely accidently pressed on the "back" arrow (right above the move list) or used the arrow keys on your keyboard without noticing.
The is a disconection related clock bug for sure, I've made a thread about it before
