Reconnectintg, reconnecting, . . .

For some time now I see the message "Reconnecting" where the :"?players" menu is located. I cannot het rid of it except for only a moment or two after "refreshing the page. I really can't play or do much.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

The site is otherwise terrific/.

I have the same problem. Just joined the site yesterday and played 3 games with this problem most of the time... It's a pity because I really like the experience here :)
Check you're not using Internet Explorer. Lichess is optimised for Chrome and Firefox, really.
Last time I used Internet Explorer Magnus wasn't born
The site worked fine with internet explorer for a long time. That's not to say there isn't a problem now.

I tried re-setting the log buy it didn't help.

I reset the log and accessed LiChess thru Google Chrome - this worked fine.

Same problem, the player count field at the top toggles between a "?" and a red "Reconnecting". Cannot accept challenges (nothing happens when I click a suitable match) or send out seeks. I can do puzzles and follow TV. I've tried resetting tcp/ip, clearing cookies, different browsers, disabling ad blockers - all to no avail. I'm using Windows 7 with Chrome.

You are not alone today. I played my move and waited for my opponent to play. While waiting, I tabbed to his profile and discovered he had played, but my main page did not update.
The forum page was long to load and the welcome page... I noticed the map was fine and the monitor does not help me to tell me what I should see as normal and what is not normal. In the future when the website is hard to load, I will use the training puzzles to pass some time.
My particular problem has been persistent for weeks.
