Impossible to get a rapid game in Chess960?

Everyone plays bullet/blitz. I understand fast games when playing non-960 chess, but I really think you need more time when you have effectively no opening theory to work from. I also just enjoy taking my time with the game and trying to make the best moves as much as possible, my favourite time format these days is 15 min with 10 second increment, but it's impossible to get a game...
slow time controls are much less played for variants for some reason
rapid is played less also in normal chess and sometimes it takes bit more time to get opponent. Now there are abou 40 times as many weekly rapid players than 960 player in total . Not all 960 players are into rapid so lets say 100 times more real chess rapid players. Also few those players playing 960 play mostly 960 so at minimum there are 200-300 times as many rapid chess as 960 players. leading expected wait time to some where over 5 minutes for opponent.

So I think best options is find like minded player and agree on times to play. Also joining lichess.org/team/lichess-chess960 They arrange daily and weekly tournaments on different time controls so maybe some those will to you liking.
I guess the chess960 boom will come soon. I just can’t wait!
With fewer 960 players than classical chess, splitting the pie further is going to result in long wait times. Its the same for any variant.

A lesser, but somewhat relevant issue, is that lichess doesn't have separate ratings for variants at each time control if I recall right. Separate ratings for 960 at rapid time controls would lead more people to play some, which would reduce wait times, at the expense of slightly longer wait times for shorter time controls due to a subset of people shifting their time controls at times.

Another lesser issue is that some 960 positions can be a little boring and getting stuck potentially spending 30 minutes or more on one of those is not tremendously appealing. There are far more boring starts, but even drawing the standard starting position from regular chess is a downer. I dont want to spend 30 minutes on that.
My favourite time format these days is 15 min with 10 second increment. It's a good format to play chess960, as there is more time to develop the pieces in the most effective way possible.
Maybe I'm a little out of sorts then, but I love 960chess even as classical or correspondence.

But true - difficult to find people for that.

...and looking at your ratings, I'm probably not the right challenger for you... ;-)
