do something about lag comp in ultra

Hahahaha yes it is terrible that no matter what you do you still have less time
In general, I totally agree with the post, just some things I'd like to add:

1. I think what is very important is to understand that lag switch cheating is a problem.
What I mean is players playing with lag in the middle game, then turning off the lag to win keyboard shuffles. Recently, every know and then I encountered players that had three bars, but in the endgame they were playing with virtually no lag. Of course, an unstable connection can cause something like this and sometimes it is just a coincidence but it happens significantly more often in endgames

2. As much as I like the idea of having seperate tournaments, I honestly doubt that will work, there just aren't enough ultrabullet players, and I've said that elsewhere before. Also, tournament pairing according to lag is a bad idea, in my opinion. I think for a fair competition, the matchups should be the same for everyone. Also, "real" laggers would have actually a huge disadvantage here, since a game between two laggers lasts longer and they can make less games in the same time.

3. I very much agree that pairing by lag would be very nice, since I often see myself aborting game after game and blocking the player afterwards, I think it would be very convenient not having to do that.
@majorbajor02 nice take, major

1) there was some 2 bars trying to lure me into zerk arena other day, i said no lol who does that vs 2 bars, he said ok i'm 4bars again, (some 2digit ping he said, can't remember), i turned it off. at first i thought he was just keeping an attempt to deceive, but then he suddenly actually became 4 bars - i mean i've seen 3 bars get to 4 bars and vice versa, but 2 bars and 4 bars is truly a vpn indeed.

2) yes that's true, i also noticed that even though lag is so annoying in arenas it is still somehow not as apparent (but still so terrible) as outside of it, i too had a theory it has to do with just lack of games.

3) yes, i even have ocd and my obsession is that when i block a lagger i ought not leave that link in a browsing history so i even have to delete it from history all the time, which is so tiresome. lol now i'm not making this as it is objective issue with lag lol.

in fact i think reducing ms is best option, i honestly can't think of more of an optimal solution, i even wonder idea of that option hasn't been brought up here in all related threads nearly as much as say separate tourneys idea. even if not anything, there is nothing even to lose by just trying/testing it for a day, i just want lichess do this.
Incase you many not know the avg ping on lichess is 250 ms or something like that (it's over 200 I can guarantee you that)
Don't be oblivious to the obvious. It's as if you think removing lag comp will solve any problems: Instead, people that live far from France and have bad internet will suffer even more than they already do. Ultrabullet is inherently broken by variables outside of lichess's control; the correct action here isn't to remove lag comp, it's to make ultrabullet leaderboardless (like correspondence).
lol same people downvoting over and over again.

first off i never even said remove lag comp, where did i say that? that already means you didn't even read my message so your message's irrelevant. it's as if you post only to post, you do this all time, you are same guy who has done this in previous threads, you have even quoted literally lichess/lag here in other thread to prove that some guy criticizing that very lichess/lag was wrong. post it only after u read it cause i never even said remove, only reason you post and dislike without reading is to gain hearts and come off as nice lichess citizen, and that goes for literally every one of your posts i've seen. as i stated, i don't care for that kinda replies that don't bring anything to discussion but just try to strengthen their status, read it before you even try to disprove anything.
Yet you happy to use KB for external inputs for an advantage, funny that :)
