How adding a friend

Hi, I can't find how to add a friend in Lichess. That seems stupid but not very intuitive I'm afraid. Someone can help me ?

Click someone's name. In the top-right corner, there are options. The thumbs-up symbol is set to follow someone.

Yeah, you can't befriend but you can "follow". Almost the same thing :P

Although 'follower' sounds a little bit off when the context is tilted, so that it implies you're a cult leader or are a member of one.

As a great believer in the utility of sharp, incisive cultlery, I decided to follow "rise_UIED"

Ok, friends and followers are the same. it's a bit strange because there is no consent of your "friend".

I think that this is confusing because there are lists of people who you are "following", but the box in the bottom right says "Online friends" as if there is a distinction between friends and those who you are following.
