11 things I did to take my USCF rating from 1547 to 1976

@nrrrd I've watched some videos about theoretical endgames and picked up some stuff. I rarely see these endgames in my games, and since I try to focus my improvement efforts on what's actually costing me games, I don't spend much time on them.

You have to play a lot of games, in order to find out what's costing you games. If it's lack of knowledge of theoretical endgames, then you should focus on that.
It's a very recent rule - it's forbidden to write anything else on the scoresheet - except the notation.
some controversies happened post-covid. At least a local National-Fide Arbiter told me. I didn't checked on fide handbook to be honest but I think its true - its a very serious arbiter.

@greysensei I would like to read how to us Anki for woodpecker method. Can you elaborate?
@lampiopasa

The woodpecker method is just repeating the same set of tactics puzzles over and over. I have collected about 10k puzzles (basic tactics - 2-3 movers) and made them into Anki cards and I try to cycle through 100-200 per day. In theory, if you get faster at it, your tactical vision improves. We will see if that's the case.

I remember when I got a new house, I had a lot of friends there. We all liked chess and we practiced a lot, while I was not the best player, I had a lot of motivation to keep getting better. But soon a lot of my friends were leaving the houses there. After that, things started falling apart. I am around the 1500 plateau. I still wonder to this day what could have have if most my friends did not leave. But I would have probably been in my 1800-2000 mark if they had not left 3 years ago.
