Is there a link between chess and intelligence?

(((They))) would not encourage you to be more intelligent because it makes you a less obedient wage slave.
She validates the studies that paint a positive picture, while stating that the recent negative study had "several shortcomings." Then, continues to draw the conclusion that chess is probably not helpful in building intelligence...

The only thing that I conclude from this author is that her research was inconclusive. She still has no idea, but since she spent time on, figured she should probably write something.
@Manglecopter I would say to you that there is probably a confounding variable at play here. I think that naturally intelligent people are more likely to be interested in chess.
By the way, why is this in the game analysis forum section? This should be in "General chess discussion".
