Lichess Bans Keyboard

@clousems

So you're telling me KB makes you good but is bad because It fails to measure a handicapped play with relation to what would make you good?

Since you seem to know nothing about this, allow me to explain, on the far end which is me as I'm very KB capable.
On average I do 200+ rating worse with mouse
(this easily would be minimized to 100 difference If I worked half as hard on mouse as I've done with KB)

So take it this way by playing mouse vs KB you may be handicapped by an average Max of 100 rating
or not at all as there are many factors involved like lag/latency.
That...was not what I said at all.
What I'm saying is that use of a performance altering extension is bad because the game ceases to be an equal contest between two competitors.
@TAUTKUS

you say the positives and negatives of KB are why you like it, yet you don't mention any negatives. (that i can tell)

also, chess sites are made for... well... chess. while yes, bullet chess exists, the main function of chess should be to play chess, not type as fast as you can to win on time.

flagging IS a part of the game, yet it should not be the main part of the game.
@clousems That's a point, I see what you're saying.

I mean I don't know what to tell you man, KB is hard to learn that's probably why you don't use it,
Maybe we should have all worked hard on educating people on how to use it so that it would be an easy and accessible tool to all. ..

But that's just a lot of maybe's

It's very confusing to conclude on this, Because some select people are soo good with mouse on the leaderboard
that they're effectively KB to someone of your skill level and I'm sure you don't mind me preforming at top 100 mouse speed levels but then you being a 1800 don't want to come into contact with someone whos 1800 but plays as fast as an 2200.

basically the leaderboard benefits from KB as it brings more extreme play into the scene.
But for lower level opponents on mouse who want a soft balance I guess they don't benefit as much.
There is always the option for an official Lichess Keyboard, that a single keyboard hit corresponds to a single move.
Even though I was never a huge fan of KB and even posted against it, I don't think it should be removed.

I completely agree and this is the reason keyboard has to stay. Without keyboard, there will be more flagging, because people are slower! It also means that mouse handling is way more important than the actual chess and fast thinking. The speed gap between two mouse players can be waay bigger than between two keyboard players.

When everyone has keyboard, fast thinking plays a much bigger role than when noone has keyboard
i dont get it....
everybody wanted lichess to ban keyboard, but now theyre going against it
though i still go with the first wave
@clasherbabo

but there will be more flagging with kb unless EVERYBODY uses it bc keyboard and multipremove users are inherently faster than mouse users, giving them a huge advantage against the majority of bullet/ultra players.

This is true, thats why lichess should implement it as a proper feature, so that really everyone has access to it
