What I don't understand is why does your clock continue to count down when this happens? The webpage knows when your connection is broken. We know it knows this because it has that red message. Right? So why can't it just freeze your clock until the connection is reestablished.
The only thing I can think of is because some people might cheat and abuse this to get more time to think. Although this should be an issue only for client side connection problems and not server side. Can any lichess devs or people in the know shed any light on this?
