chess is repetitive

You cannot play the SAME chess game twice.
~ A conversation overheard between Caïssa and Heraclitis.
But you can win (or lose) a few games by the same opening trick...
It is repetitive. But that's part of what makes it a challenge.

Some time ago I thought the opening theory was a "problem" to chess and I regarded chess960 as a possible solution.

I've changed my mind since then. The ability to remember a large opening theory is part the skills required to excel in this game. Memory is big part of the intellect and there is nothing wrong in exercising it.
#36 is absolutely correct
Openings may be repetitive, but they still require thought and theory. End games too.
Middle game is where it's always different and requires a different form of thought.
#24 Chess is worse than life, and life is almost as bad as it gets. Usually you want to avoid the "bad things", but since that is a rather encompassing phenomenon, you're going to have to do stuff you don't like, such as suffering or dying. I view chess as one of those things.
Vary your openings, that's much more fun and cool and less repetitive.
