French vs. Caro-Kann

Both defenses have been used at the top levels of chess, seems more theory involved in the French defense esp ....4) B-QN5 lines. Still, I wouldn't say ones better than the other, perhaps the Caro-Khan is safer in terms of keeping the draw in hand.
I've posted this, because I'm using Caro-Kann, but the most people like french more.
Huh, as white, I hate seeing that Caro more. As black, I play the French. Seems like I need to brush up on my opening theory.
Both are good openings that and still popular on grandmaster level. In general Caro-Kann is more used in order to try to equalize as black and French is more suitable in order to fight for the win.
The Advance Caro-Kann and the French are pretty similar. I prefer the Caro-Kann because Black has a bit more space (bishop is not stuck behind the pawn chain) and you don't have to play so defensively as in the French.
There is no need to play the French defensively. Black need to put some preasure on the white center. Passive play will lead to no good i think.

And the bishop is not that bad.
