Calling player who intentionally runs time out scumbag

Why does lichess allow players who make a bad move to sit 4 minutes straight on a 5 min blitz and send me warnings for saying i wish there was a way to report scumbags like you?
This happens regularly. I consider that abuseive and rude. If theyre going to allow people to sit n not move an entire games timer and then warn me for saying "mean" words they can f right off.

You're right, but, to be honest, nobody likes to wasting minutes of their time for naught.
The devs should strive to deal with the problem, not the people who get annoyed by it.
How? There is always a way, if you want to search for one.
Here is a basic idea, just off the top of my head:
You could ask the opponent to confirm their presence after every one minute of stalling, so that they can't just leave with their tab open. And, should such confirmation not be submitted, the game gets auto-aborted.
Now, yes, quality of life improvements are taxing for the developers, but I'm sure you want to keep your playerbase satisfied...
Right? Good :)
Sorry but I don't think confirming your presence every 1 minute you're thinking about a move is a good idea :)

Honestly I think OP can wait 4 minutes and get over it. I understand the frustration, but OP seemed willing to invest the 4 minutes anyway (otherwise why start the game?), so to me we have to respect that the opponent may use their time however they want (could be having connection problems, could be thinking, could have been disrupted IRL by a family member or housemate or pet, etc.). It's not possible to verify that every stalling is due to being petty and not an actual reason, which is why bans after repeated offenses, not single offenses.

It's a good feeling to say mean words to people who stall xD
I agree; sometimes taking out your frustration on something else can help. This has happened to me before but I had to leave the game to do something else.

You're right, confirmation every 1 min is somewhat annoying, but let me ask this: what's more annoying, clicking a pop-up after thinking a long time, or having to wait for whole minutes doing nothing?
Also, yes, I do understand that irl disruptances are normal, but you ought to at least offer a draw or resign if you have to leave.
And since you mentioned investment; once you start a game, you are also responsible for not abandoning it.
And disconnections always get auto-aborted either way, so it's been already implemented half-way.
Plus, in my opinion, getting aborted after a disconnection which in NOT up to you is far worse than getting aborted after willingly abandoning the game for whatever reason. So, either way, my points stands that the current treatment is terrible.
I can say this much both as a dev and as a player. Cheers!
